A struggling musician tries his hand at blackmail after inadvertently filming a murder in this dark and quirky three-part miniseries based on the novel by Norwegian author Fredrik Skagen. Frustrated musician Terje Lyngmo ekes out a living tuning other people's pianos. One day, on impulse, he steals an expensive video camera. It's a rash act that changes his life forever when he inadvertently films a domestic squabble that turns deadly. The murderer is Per Raglo, managing director of a property development company owned by his wife. After Perís wife threatened to put an effective stop to his philandering and his plans for the business, he kills her. And it's all caught on tape. Terje's first instinct is to report the crime to the police, but he changes his mind once he realizes they'll discover the camera was stolen. Instead, he contacts Per and attempts to blackmail him. The impoverished piano player has visions of an opulent lifestyle that will allow him to impress his jazz singer girlfriend. But these two hopeless amateurs find themselves in over their heads as both the police and their girlfriends catch on to their shady dealings...
